What Our Lives Are For

Since today is Sunday I thought I'd share the boys' bedtime prayers. Carter has said some variation of his prayer for probably over a year now and Deacon says his prayers so softly that, unless you are Jesus, you have to listen super carefully to catch it all. So tonight they went something like this:

Carter (5½ yrs): Dear Jesus, Thank you for my family and my friends at school. Help us have a happy day. Help what we do and what our lives are for. Help everyone have a good night's sleep. Amen.

Deacon (3 yrs): Thank you for mommy, daddy, Carter, Toy Story 3, book, music, two blankets. Hug you Jesus. Amen.

There is something so special about a child's prayer: the honesty, the innocence, and the lessons that can be learned. Bry has often said he would like to compile them all into a book one day. But until then, hug your Jesus and have a good night's sleep.
