He is excited and ready. He showers in record time, gets dressed, has breakfast and is ready to go about an hour before he needs to be. We take the obligatory first of the year pics both at our house and at the front of the school. He chatters all the way there about his new teacher and his awesome backpack and how he gets to hang out in daddy's room after school while his dad is in charge of safety patrol. He runs way ahead of his brother and I and finds his classroom. And then he looks around.
He sees all of the younger kids with their moms, many of whom are teary-eyed. He surveys the situation and then walks over to me, puts his arms around my waist and says, "Mom. I think I'm going to be shy today." For the love of the land.
Needless to say, he snapped out of it pretty quick. Here is a pic of how his dad found him when he went to pick him up from the Art room when it was time to go home.
