Confessions of a Non-Saint Mother

A few days ago, Carter and I stopped for gas at QT and I decided I needed to treat myself to a 49-cent fountain drink. I rarely do this when I have Carter with me and this is why:
Carter (5½ yrs): I want a drink, too.

Me: I'll get you one when we get home.

Carter: But you're getting one.

Me: I won't drink it 'til we get home.

Carter: Why are you getting a Pepsi?

Me: I just want one.

Carter: Pepsi is not healthy. You should drink water. It's the best for your body.
"I know. You're right," I said as I paid for the drink. "You need to keep reminding me."

Carter just sighed and said, "Oh, mom. You already know."
